Spring Sports Teams Are Excited About the Possibilities of the Upcoming Season

by Megan Allen

As the winter sports come to an end the spring sports are just beginning. With many achievements made in the winter season, Walkersville is hoping to add to them with the new season arriving.

Varsity Softball Coach Erinne Warrenfeltz said, “The thing I am looking the most forward to is building relationships with my players, and sharing my passion for the sport with them.”

The team had a strong season last year and are hoping to improve this year. Sophomore Lindsey Windsor made varsity last year as a freshman, and echoed on from Warrenfeltz. “I am really excited because there are a lot of upcoming freshman who will really help out the infield, and think we will be very close as a team and function well together. I hope it goes well and I can’t wait.”

Athletic Director Mike Mummert stated, “We have a rich tradition at Walkersville High School with outstanding spring sports teams, and we are looking forward to carrying on our tradition. I expect that we will have nine state champions, and we will also field the teams with the most character and that displays the best sportsmanship in the state of Maryland.”

At Walkersville High School we have an astonishing athletic department. The spring sports starting up will make an impact to the department as well. This year will go down as one of the best in school’s history with the help and dedication of the spring sports teams.

Varsity Lacrosse Coach, Julia McLellan, said “I think we lost key players last year but we still will have a great season. I am excited to bond with the new team and can’t wait to see what this season has in store for us.” Mclellan coached JV Lacrosse last year and got upgraded to varsity this year. When asked about the new coach, junior Paige Shortt said “I am very excited about Julie because she always has so much energy and always gets really close with the team.”

This spring season coming up will be one to remember.
